International Summerschool Quality Improvement Research 2009
Announcement
We will organize an international Summerschool on Quality Improvement Research in 2009. This short course aims to provide a quick overview and update on the field of quality improvement in healthcare. Our perspective is broad and include various healthcare sectors (primary care, hospital care, mental healthcare etc.) and health professions (physicians, nurses, etc.). Our focus is on scientific research: what are relevant research questions, good study designs and methods? How are studies best organised logistically and strategically?
The multidiscplinary organising and teaching staff comprises include experienced researchers, with a strong track record in quality improvement research:
-Prof. Richard Grol, director of the Scientific Institute for Quality of Healthcare, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Netherlands
-Prof. Joachim Szecsenyi, director of the Department of General Practice and Health Services Research, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany
-Prof. Thomas Rosemann, professor of general practice, Zürich University Hospital, Switzerland
-Dr. Stephen Campbell, senior researcher, National Primary Care Research and Developmennt Centre, Manchester University, United Kingdom
-Dr. Michel Wensing, senior researcher, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre.
Participants in the course have varying academic backgrounds (clinical or non-clinical), be new in health research or more experienced, and come from different healthcare sectors. We expect at least a basic understanding of health research and research metholodogy. The topics that will be covered in this course are:
- models and terminology in quality improvement
- development and use of performance indicators
- educational and organizational interventions for improving healthcare
- logistics and politics aspects of quality improvement projects.
Participants will be asked to bring projects, which are presented and discussed during the course.
A specific programme will be available later. Registration will be organized through this website. The course fee is 650 Euro per person.
